Sitting at home elevating my foot with an ice pack. Not as much pain today, but I need to stay off it as much as possible. Alice came over to take care of a few household tasks for me. We talked about lessons learned from yesterday: a) I am going to have to bite the bullet and get a lighter motorcycle. Man, I don’t want to, but I’m pretty sure I proved yesterday that my current bike is just too big for me to handle, given my age and reduced physical abilities. So I guess I’ll put on my “big girl panties” and deal with it; b) Odds are something like this will happen when we’re on our 50-state ride, we will need to prepare to handle not only any injuries but the impact to our schedule; c) We need to ensure we don’t out-ride our abilities; d) Another opportunity to take accountability for the consequences of a choice I made (happens to me all the time); e) New thoughts for planning the route, such as building in some opportunities for flexibility and a few “Plan B’s”; f) there are learnings in every experience, good or bad.
